Terms and Conditions

By entering this competition, you agree to abide by the following rules.  Please read them carefully before submitting your photograph(s).

1. The organiser of the competition is Pest Free Waimakariri.

2. The competition is open to everyone of all ages. There are two categories: (1) Youth – under 15 years of age and (2) Open.

3. The competition opens on the 6th of December 2024 and closes on the 31st of January 2025.

4. You may submit up to three photographs only.  

5. To be eligible for submission, the photograph must be taken in the Waimakariri District.

6. Only online electronic submissions of photographs submitted through the website, pestfreewaimakariri.org, accompanied by a completed entry form will be accepted for the competition.

7. Entrants must be the sole copyright owner of photographs they submit and the photographs must be an original work taken by the entrant. It must not infringe the copyright, trademark, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any other person or entity.

8. AI generated content is not permitted.

9. Basic editing, including colour enhancement, the use of filters, and cropping of the image(s) is acceptable but editing to create illusions, deceptions and/or manipulations, and the adding and removing of significant elements within the frame, is prohibited.

10. You will retain copyright in the photographs you submit. By entering your photograph in the competition, you grant Pest Free Waimakariri permission to use the photo, along with your name as the photographer, for future activities promoting Pest Free Waimakariri and/or the photo competition, including in third-party material, for example the local newspaper. Entries may be displayed publicly.

11. Every photograph uploaded will be checked to ensure that it complies with the competition rules. Pest Free Waimakariri reserves the right to assess and disregard any submitted photograph at its sole discretion.

12. Entrants must not have breached any laws when taking their photographs.

13. Submissions will not be accepted after the deadline. Pest Free Waimakariri is not responsible for any technical difficulties in uploading the photographs, or any lost, late, misdirected, illegible or incomplete submission forms.

14. Pest Free Waimakariri reserves the right to cancel, modify or suspend the competition for any reason or alter any of the rules at any stage if deemed necessary by Pest Free Waimakariri, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.

15. All entries will be judged by a panel appointed by Pest Free Waimakariri.

16. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

17. Prizes must be collected from Rangiora Library or as otherwise arranged with Pest Free Waimakariri.

18. The competition and these rules are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
